Principles we operate under

Earn portfolio, not noise. Classhopper exists to make student effort visible to the right opportunities. Every product decision is checked against whether it strengthens that visibility or dilutes it. Move early. Most early-career advantages compound from acting before the obvious window opens. Our matching model is tuned to surface opportunities while they’re still actionable, not after they’ve trended. Source defensibility. Whatever we publish (claims, statistics, partner outcomes) is verifiable at the paragraph level. We don’t use round numbers as decoration. Aggregation over capture. We don’t try to lock listings inside our platform. The student applies through the employer’s channel. The value we create is in matching quality and delivery discipline, not in walled gardens.

Why these tradeoffs

A different platform might prioritize a social feed, gamified profiles, or a token economy. We’ve considered those models and deliberately set them aside for the current scope. The first job is to deliver matching that students trust and companies can rely on. Layered features come after that foundation is real.

Data and matching

Our matching model uses structured profile signals against structured listing signals. We don’t pretend to do more than the data supports. As volume grows and feedback loops mature, the model gets sharper. But we’d rather ship narrow accuracy than broad ambiguity.
We don’t run user-facing personalization based on tracking or behavioral surveillance. The signals we use are the ones the student gives us in their profile.

What’s next
